It was nearly two decades ago that Danes starred in My So-Called Life. Though the show ran only 19 episodes, Danes’ Angela Chase was praised for her complexity and depth even as a self-obsessed high-schooler in the ‘90s. The show set the tone for the era, just as Danes’ latest – and more grown-up – role in Homeland has portrayed the perils of our uncertain age of terrorism. Danes plays the bipolar, aloof, yet brilliant CIA analyst Carrie Mathison in the acclaimed show and has raked in both an Emmy and a Golden Globe this year for her dramatic performance. The show concluded its second season in December and was quickly renewed by Showtime for another.
